Design is about creating a unique space, not about imposing ideas and
personal tastes. As professionals we help clients develop their vision
creating flexible, functional environments that optimize their space
and relate to their lifestyle or business image.
Mistakes
happen because needs are not met and wants aren't understood. This is
an emotional business. Needs are analytical. We need a washer and dryer.
Wants are emotional...we want an Oriental Screen.
Wants come from the heart, we love something therefore we need it.
My personal philosophy about design is "Show me what you love and I'll build a room around it."
"Let me be your guide through all the decisions i.e. lighting, rugs, wallpaper, paint, case goods, window treatments, fabrics, upholstered furniture, artwork and accessories." What a service we provide! We can find what it is you want "out there".
As a professional we must understand that space = image. Your image needs to be in harmony with who you are. We need to design for the client and the only way to do that is to understand their needs and wants.
It is up to the professional to share their knowledge, guide the client
and produce the design the client wants.
